My Learning Experience Working In the City

I truly believe that the best way to learn the quickest and move forward in life is to challenge yourself. Most people are afraid of changes and the unknown. As a result of their fears, they don’t allow themselves to grow to their fullest potential. I’ve always dreamt of working in a big city and experiencing the city life one day. I worked really hard to get here and I’m proud to finally be able to share my experience with you.

The advantages of working in the city is the opportunity to meet lots of great people from different backgrounds, to learn something from each and every one of them. Another great advantage that I’ve noticed of working in the city is the fact that the city is so fast paced that it keeps you motivated, inspired and pushes you to become your best self. The reason I’m saying “the city” and not specifying NYC (which is the city that I’ve worked at) is because I believe this applies to any city, not just NYC. So, if you have the opportunity to work at any city in the world to improve yourself, learn new things and have new experiences in any level of your life, I’ll say: Go for it!!

Working in the city has taught me to discipline myself in my career, responsibilities and growing as an adult. I believe discipline is one of the major important keys to work on, in order to be able to balance your life and to accomplish important tasks throughout your life. When we go to college no one really tells you these things, but at the same time these are things you learn along the way while you’re working on them.

I’ve also learned that nobody is perfect and that we’re all on the same boat, no matter your status. Unfortunately, the majority of people tend to believe that if you’re famous, a big celebrity, work for the biggest company, etc., they immediately assume their lives are perfect and they don’t struggle, which is false. It doesn’t really matter your status, how much money you make or where you come from, at the end of the day we are all on the same boat and we all have our own personal everyday struggles.

At the end of the day, we’re not perfect and the world is waiting to notice you because it needs you too.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet extremely successful people, you would think they have it all, but they also struggle, have lots of other bigger issues and responsibilities to worry about and some are not happy. My advice to you is to STOP putting certain people on a pedestal, when in reality they’re just like you and me. This brings me back to my biggest learning experience working in the city, which is: TRUST yourself, who you are and you will get there; because at the end of the day we’re not perfect and the world is waiting to notice you because it needs you too.
